This was an absolutely breathtaking moment on Safari, it is rare to witness a lioness with such small cubs as they are usually hidden in a safe secluded area when they are so young. We were incredibly lucky to see her briefly bring them out into the open and onto the road as she moved them to a new den site.

Moving such vulnerable young cubs to a new den site is always risky for a lioness as there is a chance of running into other predators, especially when she has an overly adventurous cub and needs to discipline the little one.

We estimate they are approximately 4 weeks old and we hope they are now safely stashed in a new den site. They are in very good hands with the Madrid mother lioness who has proven to be a successful parent in the past.
